Welding Certification Types

Gas Metal Arc Welding Certification

The Gas Metal Arc Welding Certificate program and course is made for interested individual who wants to get certified in this welding field of study. The training program of the Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) certificate provides students with the training and education of the Gas Metal Arc Welding as well as the intensive training of the Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding process. Students who will take the Gas Metal Arc Welding Certificate courses and program will prepare them to qualify in the gas metal welding processes on either plate or pipe in accordance to the American Welding Society (AWS) or the American Petroleum Institute (API) welding procedures.

Welding schools in the US are offering gas metal arc welding (GMAW) training program and course. Some of the vocational training schools, technical trade schools, community colleges and universities have comprehensive programs and courses in the gas metal arc welding (GMAW). Welding schools who offer gas metal arc welding (GMAW) certificate programs will provide students the best learning experience in this trade. The gas metal arc welding certificate program that the welding schools are offering allows students to gain the knowledge and skills that they need especially in cutting shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW) and gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) and provides some exposure to oxy-acetylene cutting and welding.

The Gas Metal Arc Welding Certificate Program and Course also include classroom and lab instruction especially in safety, blueprint reading and sketching, tools and materials used in the various forms of welding; machine adjustments and rod selection, skill requirements for various welding positions, weld testing and qualifications and fabrication and layout of various welding projects.

What skills can you learn in the Gas Metal Arc Welding Certificate Program and Course?

Students will learn many skills and competencies when they enroll in the gas metal arc welding certificate program and course and these includes:

  • Students can demonstrate the effect of slope and inductance on GMA welding
  • Students can demonstrate satisfactory welds in all positions using the short-circuiting metal transfer method
  • Students can describe the various methods of metal transfer in GMA welding
  • Students can demonstrate the four variables used to control the GMA welding
  • Students can name the parts of a GMA welding setup
  • Students can demonstrate satisfactory welds in the 1F, 2F, and 1G positions using the pulsed-arc metal transfer method

It will take up to 35 hours for a student to complete the training program of gas metal arc welding.

What are the requirements to enroll in the Gas Metal Arc Welding Certificate program and course?

Interested individual must be a high school graduate and must present their copy of high school diploma or GED. You will submit this upon registration. He/she must be at least 16 years old to take this course. Welding Introduction and Safety Course must be completed prior to this course.
